The big news out of this region doesn't even have to do with an Indiana radio station. One of the rimshotters into Fort Wayne, AC/WDFM (98.1fm, Defiance, Ohio) was sold by Wolfe Communications, Inc. to Jacor Communications, for $3.95 million. Along with WDFM-FM, they get WDFM-TV, a LPTV station on Channel 19. We've heard that the TV station broadcasts Fort Wayne weather radar and some local information. We've also heard that Jacor doesn't really want the TV station, and will darken it.

Former OM at the Kovas stations in Fort Wayne, Scott Kolesar, is now a sales guy at Classic Rock/WFWI (92.3fm, Fort Wayne).

Speaking of the Kovas stations, what was that we heard from Mod. AC/WYSR? Their Legal ID says "WYSR Fort Wayne". The FCC Database still shows Roanoke as its city of license.

Over on the TV side, we note that Broadcasting & Cable reports in their 16 November issue that FOX affiliate WFFT-TV (Channel 55, Fort Wayne) was sold to Quorum Broadcasting, not the Midwest Holdings Partnership (based in San Francisco). Quorum paid $65 million for WFFT, along with 3 other stations (WHAG/Hagerstown, Maryland, KSVI-TV and KHMT, both Billings, Montana). Quorum Broadcasting owns seven other TV stations, around the United States.

Northcentral

WNDU(AM) (1490am, South Bend) also changes calls to WNDV, to match its sister FM station.

Religious/WLAB (88.3fm, Fort Wayne) applies to move translator W203AU (Warsaw) from 88.5fm to 90.9fm. This was most likely due to WPCS/Pensacola Florida's addition of a translator, W204BC on 88.7fm.

Eastcentral

The Blackford Country Schools submit an application to replace an expired CP on 88.1fm in Hartford City.

Central

Morning duo Bob & Tom add KHOP/Modesto, California and are dropped at WKQH/Wausau, Wisconsin.

Westcentral

WPCS/Pensacola, Florida applies for another translator...this time on 90.5fm, in Greencastle.

CSN International applies for a new translator on 89.1fm in Ladoga.

Southcentral

Country/WCBK (102.3fm, Martinsville) has a new website. Give 'em a hit at http://www.wcbk.com

That's it for this issue! See you in two weeks...
