Veteran Lafayette broadcaster and journalist Max Showalter passed away on Sunday, at age 72. Before Lafayette, Mr. Showalter began his broadcasting career in Frankfort (We'd presume at WILO). In the early 1980s, Mr. Showalter arrived in Lafayette and started working as the News Director at WASK. That lasted about a decade. After that, Mr. Showalter became a newspaper reporter for the local Lafayette Journal and Courier, retiring in 2012. The visitation and funeral were this evening in a Cincinnati, Ohio suburb. After retirement, Mr. Showalter and his wife moved there to be closer to family. As Mr. Showalter was a "Parrothead," Hawaiian shirts were de rigueur tonight.

Eastcentral

On Thursday November 29, 1990, Anderson University signed on their new radio station: WQME (98.7fm, Anderson) as one of many "80 90 drop ins." Now, Anderson University has "98-7 The Song" on the sales block. The university has a new strategic plan and says the radio station doesn't fit with that new plan. Four full time employees work for the radio station.

Central

With Cumulus airing their holiday format on WRWM (93.9fm, Lawrence), our friends at RadioInsight found 7 new domain names registered by Cumulus (along with another one reserved from a prior domain name registration spree). The domains point to many different formats, such as Rock, AC, Dance music, et al.

We missed this story: In September, Radio One's Urban AC/WTLC-FM (106.7fm Greenwood) added the syndicated D.L. Hughley Show in afternoons (3pm until 7pm). Here's the full "Indy's R&B Leader WTLC" lineup:

Mornings: Tom Joyner Morning Show (6am until 10am)
Middays: Donna Schiele (10am until 3pm)
Afternoons: D.L. Hughley (3pm until 7pm)
Nights: Jerry Wade (7pm until Midnight)
Overnights: The Late Side with JC! (Midnight until 6am)

That's all for this issue. Thank you for your continued support.
