Central

Sad to report that former Shelbyville air personality Tom Franklin recently passed away. Born Thomas Franklin Beasley, he did mornings at what was WSVL (1520am, Shelbyville) from 1968 until 1976. Born in Linton, "the Gregarious Irishman" served as Grand Marshall in WSVL's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. He was 83.

Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting's N-T/WFYI-FM (90.1fm, Indianapolis) reworks their weekend schedule and adds several new shows: Planet Money, How I Built This with Guy Raz, Ask Me Another, It's Been a Minute with Sam Sanders, and health/science program The Pulse. Here's the complete WFYI-FM schedule.

Nick Natario exits as reporter at Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis). Mr. Natario joins KTRK-TV in Houston, Texas as a reporter. Also, David Williams joins WISH-TV as a reporter. Mr. Williams most recently worked in Orlando, Florida as a reporter at WOFL-TV.

Westcentral

Wabash Valley Educational Media's Modern Rock/WXXR-LP (97.3fm, Terre Haute) adds more varieties of rock music to their playlist and changes call letters to WEVX-LP. "X97.3 The Bird" becomes "X97 WEVX" and here's their website.

Southeast

After over a decade, OM Brittany Gray exits Reising Radio/Columbus: Hot AC/ WRZQ-FM (107.3fm, Greensburg), Classic Hits/WXCH (102.9fm, Columbus) and Country/WYGB (100.3fm, Edinburgh). Ms. Gray joined Reising as their News Director in July 2007 and rose to PD (May 2010), then OM (June 2013).

Succeeding Ms. Gray in the OM role will be Scott Michaels. Mr. Michaels will also program "QMIX 107.3" and starting next Monday (10/16), will co-host mornings. Before joining Reising, Mr. Michaels worked across town for 18 years at White River Broadcasting's Country/WKKG (101.5fm, Columbus), most recently as PD/Mornings before he exited.

Southcentral

Indiana University's News-Classical-Jazz/WFIU (103.7fm, Bloomington) and its five translator network add "Hidden Brain" on Saturday at 10AM. Shankar Vedantam (NPR's social science correspondent) hosts "Hidden Brain."
