Three notes from the administrative desk:

First, IRW is now on LinkedIn. If you have any tips on using it, do please let us know.

Second, IRW is looking for a bit of information. Broadcast history is fascinating to us, so we are looking for a contact name and email for WGLL in Auburn. IRW believes this station's transmitter site once housed the former WIN-T that is today's WANE-TV in Fort Wayne. If you have any information, please let us know. We did figure out that WGLL's owners (Moore Foundation, Inc.) have no connection to Ed Moore (of WFRN, etc. based in Elkhart, Indiana).

Finally, IRW has more about the question in our last issue regarding the 1950s program "Livewire Clubhouse." It aired on 1380AM WKJG on Sunday afternoons in 1955 and 1956. Dave Lee was the host. Sponsored by I&M (electric company), the show had students from all five Fort Wayne high schools. Might anyone have more information about this show?

Northeast

The Queen is back: Diane Current exits as business manager at Independence Media's Talk/WNUY (100.1fm, Bluffton) for promotions, and morning show co-host alongside host Pat White at Summit City Radio's Standards/WGL (1250am, Fort Wayne). Northcentral

LeSea Broadcasting's Religious/WHME (103.1fm, South Bend) adds Indiana University football broadcasts. WHME added IU basketball last year.

At Talking Stick's Classic Rock/WAOR (95.7fm, Nappanee), former morning show co-host Tommie Lee is now doing weekends and fill in at Midwest Family Broadcasting's Rock/WIRX (107.1fm, St. Joseph, Michigan)

Central

New to mornings (6:00AM until 9:00AM) at Clear Channel's Sports/WNDE (1260am, Indianapolis) is the team of Zakk and Jack. "Zakk" is Dominic Zaccagnini, while Jack is former Indianapolis Colts QB Jack Trudeau. Mr. Zaccagnini worked in Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, and was a managing editor at Indy's WXIN-TV (FOX 59). Finally, the new "Zakk and Jack" morning show is simulcast on Fox Sports Radio (weekends) and on WARF in Akron, Ohio.

Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting's N-T/WFYI-FM (90.1fm, Indianapolis) debuts a new show "No Limits" starting 19 August on Thursday's at Noon*. John Krull, who directs the Franklin College Eugene C. Pulliam School of Journalism, will host "No Limits". Mr. Krull will solicit discussion from callers and listeners who comment via Twitter, Facebook, and email.

On 30 August, McGraw-Hill's ABC affiliate WRTV (Channel 6, Indianapolis) will add 30 minutes to their weekday 5:00PM newscast.

Brandon Gaudin is the new PBP announcer for Butler University basketball, now heard on Emmis' Sports/WFNI (1070am, Indianapolis). Mr. Gaudin moves up from Evansville, where he did PBP for the University of Evansville baseball, soccer, and basketball teams, and was the GM of their radio station WUEV (91.5fm, Evansville). Mr. Gaudin begins his duties in September.

Former WFBQ air personality Jimmy "Mad Dog" Matis is now a salesperson for Emmis' WFNI and WIBC-FM. He started at Monument Circle on 2 August. Mr. Matis will also host the Indianapolis Colts post game show this season across the 47 station strong Indianapolis Colts Radio Network.

Westcentral

FCC Auction 88 finished up with the CP for an AM station on 640am, Terre Haute going to Birach Broadcasting for $53,000. This frequency once belonged to Mike Rice (Contemporary Media), but went off the air in October 2001.

Southeast

On Monday 2 August, Cumulus silenced both its ESPN affiliate WQKC (1450am, Jeffersonville) and sister Classic Hits/WLCL (93.9fm, Sellersburg). The last song played on WLCL was Don McLean's 1971 classic "American Pie." Both stations originally signed on in 1961, and both rolled their respective formats for roughly eighteen months before Monday's end. Finally, Cumulus COO John Dickey says both stations are for sale, but no firm details have surfaced.

Southwest

Classic Hits/WSON (860am, Henderson, Kentucky) is sold by Henry G. Lackey to broker Ed Henson's Henson Media. Mr. Henson already owns WMSK (1550am, Morganfield, Kentucky) and WMSK-FM (101.3fm, Sturgis, Kentucky) and plans on keeping each stations' operation separate. Mr. Lackey's family has owned WSON since 1941 when his father Hecht put WSON on the air.

FCC Auction 88 finished up with the CP for a station on 101.1fm, licensed to Bloomfield going to Mid-America Radio Group for $22,000. The other bidders were Music Ministries, Inc., Sarkes Tarzian, Bill Shirk ("William S. Poorman," but of course) and William Willis.

Five and a half years ago, Mark Thomas left as Market Manager for Regent's Flint, Michigan stations and became Market Manager for Townsquare Media's five Evansville stations. Now, Mr. Thomas returns to Michigan and will be Market Manager at Townsquare's Grand Rapids, Michigan stations.

Former Evansville radio host Skip Michaels has died. The 58-year-old Mr. Michaels, born Stanley J. Walls, passed away on 2 July at his Bradenton, Florida home. Mr. Michaels worked on air at WJPX, WABX, and WYNG.

Evansville Vanderburgh School's WPSR (90.7fm, Evansville) is off the air temporarily while they install a new antenna. The new installation results in a slight power increase (from 13,800 watts horizontal only to 14,000 watts horizontal and vertical). Both the new antenna and the extra watts will add coverage for the station. The current antenna dates back to WPSR's 1957 signon.
