Station History

950am signed on in April 1922. It began as experimental station W9FP.

WGAZ(AM)

The WGAZ calls stood for "World's Greatest Automotive Zone." WGAZ changed call letters in 1925 to WSBT(AM).

WSBT(AM)

In 1932, WSBT affiliated with the CBS Radio Network. In the 1930's, WSBT was transmitting on 1230am, sharing time with WFBM. In 1947, the FCC approved a power increase to 5000 watts. Studios located at 225 W. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46601-1606. 960am picked up an FM translator in September 2011 with the $135,000 purchase of W241AD from Friends of Christian Radio, Inc.
